Mayo candidate points to average age of outgoing councillors being mid-60s

CASTLEBAR Fine Gael candidate Donna Sheridan, the only female contender in the field in the area, has revealed the average age of outgoing councillors is mid-60s.

She elaborated: “Many of these councillors have made an enormous contribution to their local community.

“But, as with everything, and as we know with the Mayo team, the time comes to bring new players to the pitch as everyone of us offer a different perspective.

“I ask people to vote for growth in our local economy and fairness in our local community.

"If elected, I promise to give my all to make sure your issues and concerns are fully addressed.

“I think it's time for a new voice on Mayo County Council, a strong voice. If elected I will firstly prioritise the back-to-basics issues, the issues which effect each and every one of us everyday.

“Here in Castlebar, meeting people on the door steps, the issues facing people in their everyday lives is the lack of maintenance of estates taken over by the council.

“I can't understand why the county council cannot provide a schedule of when and how often they will be in estates, cutting grass, dealing with footpath and road issues, these are the basic things we need.”
