Four injured Mayo players in contention for Super 8s climax

FOUR Mayo players are in contention to return to action for the Super 8s climax against Donegal on August 3.

Keith Higgins (hamstring), Patrick Durcan (hamstring), Diarmuid O'Connor (wrist) and Matthew Ruane (collar bone) are all making progress in their respective fitness battles.

Higgins missed last Sunday's win over Meath but is expected to bounce back quickly while Durcan and O'Connor are reported to have a better chance than Ruane of being fit for the Donegal encounter.

Tom Parsons is also making great strides in his recovery programme.

The two-week break will be a huge help to a number of other players carrying injuries, most notably Aidan O'Shea.
