Urgent call for extra train carriages to Mayo ladies GAA match

THE cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council has this morning contacted Irish Rail and asked them to ensure extra carriages are added to the 7.50 a.m. train from Westport to Dublin next Sunday morning.

Councillor Brendan Mulroy said there are required to cater for the large number of Mayo fans travelling to the ladies All-Ireland SFC semi final between Mayo and Galway at Croke Park.

“I am awaiting their response. I do not want under any circumstance to see a repeat of what happened on this train service last Sunday (when there was mayhem due to overcrowding),” he added.
