Marian Row, Castlebar

mrs_heverinThe death of Mrs. Bridie Heverin, 24 Marian Row, Castlebar, removed from the community one of its best loved personalities who was widely regarded as a special lady.
She died as she lived on January 20 last – with grace, dignity and without complaint.
Born in 1919 on a beautiful hillside farm in Cornamona, Co. Galway, she was the middle child of five in a family whose first language was Irish.
She attended the local primary school where she not only attained the customary level of sixth class, but seventh, eighth and ninth classes as well. This was because there was no secondary school in the region and her teacher (Peadar) was blessed with both enthusiasm and encouragement.
