Alan Freeman will lead the Mayo attack against Kerry on Sunday.

Mayo team has a few surprises

The Mayo management team of Pat Holmes and Noel Connelly have produced one or two surprises in the team named to play Kerry in round one of the national football league at Killarney on Sunday.

The big talking point is the moving of Donal Vaughan from defence to midfield, while Castlebar Mitchels player Patrick Durcan comes into the half-back line and Stephen Coen is selected at right full-back.

Ger Cafferkey and Aidan O’Shea are rested, with Kevin Keane taking on the full-back duties.

Up front, Mark Ronaldson is back in favour while Ballina's Evan Regan and Under 21 player Adam Gallagher have been named to start.

The Mayo team is as follows: Robbie Hennelly; Stephen Coen, Kevin Keane, Keith Higgins; Lee Keegan, Chris Barrett, Patrick Durcan; Seamus O'Shea, Donal Vaughan; Kevin McLoughlin, Adam Gallagher, Jason Doherty; Evan Regan, Alan Freeman, Mark Ronaldson.
