It's time to get back in the sports gear.

The magnificent five

They say every good film has a sequel, and the one that comes to mind is The Magnificent Seven, which was followed by The Magnificent Seven Ride Again. We had the magnificent five in last year’s Operation Transformation and it would seem the magnificent five are ready to ride out once more.

This time round there is a slightly different twist to it as Noreen Heston, Brendan Heneghan, Joe Brett, Mick Byrne and your humble scribe will be attempting to shed a few more pounds (not that we need to, of course) - all in the support of the wonderful work being done by Western Care.

Team Weight Loss Challenge 2015 will focus on fun and healthy weight loss across a six-week period with the aim of promoting a healthier and more active lifestyle long term for all participants.

Nutritionist Carina Kennedy and the crew in Breaffy Leisure Centre are also on board for what will hopefully be an enjoyable few weeks during Lent, when we can drop a few pounds without having to starve ourselves to death.

A few walks and other activities (not too strenuous) will be thrown into the mix, but, as I say, it is meant to be enjoyed and not endured.

Tuesday night, February 21, is the starting point, so just bring your gear to the Breaffy Resort and it will kick off from there. March 31 will mark the final night, when all the result will be announced, and there will be a presentation night on Thursday, April 2, in Breaffy House Hotel.
