Mountney's a double winner

MAYO native John Mountney has picked up an FAI Cup winners' medal to go with the League of Ireland title won a few weeks ago with Dundalk.

After coming off the bench in the second half of normal time, Mountney played a key role in Dundalk's 1-0 win over Cork City, the game's only goal, scored by Richie Towell, coming in the second period of extra time following a goal-less 90 minutes.

The former Kiltimagh/Knock United and Ballina Town player has become an integral part of the Dundalk set-up, who are now the dominant force in Irish football.

The Co. Louth club have won back-to-back league titles and the FAI Cup victory completes the double this year.

It perfectly caps off a fine season not alone for Dundalk but also for Bohola man Mountney, who recently signed a new contract with the club.
