Castlebar crowned Connaught champions

CASTLEBAR Golf Club prevailed over a gallant Gort to win the Connaught AIG Pierce Purcell Shield pennant, after a titanic struggle.

The historic win makes up for the final defeats in 2014 and 2015.

Interestingly, Castlebar defeated their 2014 victors, Enniscrone, in the semi-final and their 2015 ones, Gort, in the final.

The Mayo club's Val Jennings and Michael McHugh won the deciding match in an epic final at the playoff on the 19th before a huge gallery with a 5 to Gort’s 6.
