Ballinrobe lift All-Ireland Minor Cup in emphatic style

BALLINROBE Golf Club has secured the All-Ireland Ladies Minor Cup at Blackrock CG, Dundalk, in emphatic style.

They defeated Armagh in the final by 3-0 to spark memorable celebrations at the Co. Louth venue. 

The three matches won by Ballinrobe were sealed on the 11th, 14th and 15th holes, underlining the south Mayo side's superiority.

The members of the winning team were Marie Burke, Louise Cribbin, Joanne Hynes, Eileen Byrne, Breege Costello and substitutes Peggy Butler and Mary Colleran.

Team manager Leo Gannon was fullsome in his praise of the players at the presentation ceremony and lauded them for writing a new chapter in the club's history.

Earlier today, Ballinrobe defeated Greystones in their penultimate round clash.

Meanwhile, Castlebar Golf Club face Tramore tomorrow morning in the final of the All-Ireland Ladies Junior Foursomes after defeating Padraig Harrington's club, Stakestown, Co. Dublin, in their semi-final clash.
