Former Castlebar Celtic player makes international debut

A Ben Quinn goal in the 25th minute proved to be enough for Jason Donohue's Republic of Ireland Under 15 team to earn a 1-0 win against Poland today as they were given their first taste of international football.

The game saw former Castlebar Celtic player Darragh Reilly make his international debut. He played the entire match, which was held in Kolobrzeg.

Head coach Donohue said after the 1-0 win that he was delighted with how Reilly and his team-mates coped with the experience.

“We were outstanding in the first half,” he state. “We dominated possession and remained composed throughout.

“In the second half Poland improved. They had some long-range shots, but not much more. The (Irish) team were very resilient and I thought they were very calm under the Polish pressure.”

The teams meet once more on Thursday morning in the Polish town of Police.
