Warning issued after lough corribmask rescue

THE Corrib/Mask Community Rescue Boat team had a major call out last night after a twin mast sailing boat got into difficulty.

The boat had 10 people on board – four adults and six children.

They got into difficulty around 6 p.m. yesterday evening when they were blown up on rocks and the call was made to the Coastguard helicopter around 7 p.m.

The Corrib/Mask rescue boat, with the assistance of the Coastguard helicopter, reached the boat and brought all on board to safety at Lisloughrey Harbour in Cong.

This latest rescue brings the total number of rescue operations by the voluntary team to approximately six. The Corrib/Mask Rescue Team is urging anyone entering local waters to be aware that  they should call 999 or 112 and ask for the coastguard if they get into difficulty.
