A HOME baker from Cloonfad has been named Best Wedding Cake Designer in Ireland.
Brides have been rushing to say 'I do' in an online vote for Joan Burke of Ivory Wedding Cakes in the Mrs2Be Brides’ Choice Wedding Awards.
Joan specialises in designer wedding cakes and dessert tables and was thrilled with her win in the awards hosted by Mrs2Be, an active online community for couples planning their wedding in Ireland or abroad.
Joan has been baking 'all my life, since I was a child'. She started out baking for family and friends and 'the business just grew from there'.
She said of the award: "I was in the top seven and to get that far was unreal. For a home baker in the small village of Cloonfad, I'm thrilled to win the national title."
