Steep drop in number of vacant general beds at Mayo hospital

A steep drop has been recorded in the number of vacant general beds at Mayo University Hospital.

The number fell from 21 at 6.30 p.m. on Thursday to two yesterday evening at 6.30 p.m.

The number of vacant critical care beds has remained at two during the same 24-hour period.

A total of 24 confirmed Covid-19 cases are being treated in the hospital, an increase of two, while there are no suspected cases, a drop of three in 24 hours.

There are two confirmed cases in the critical care unit.
