Dates confirmed for AIG Cups and Shields All-Ireland finals

The Golfing Union of Ireland has confirmed the dates for the All-Ireland finals of the AIG Cups and Shields, with the four competitions being held across two sets of dates in Donegal Golf Club in October.

In the last update given on planning for the event, it was confirmed that the All-Ireland finals would be played behind closed doors. This continues to be the case as while the current public health restrictions in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland continue to permit All-Ireland inter-club matches to take place, localised restrictions in certain regions require these matches to be played without spectators. Clubs participating will be allocated a set number of attendees in a further communication.

Meanwhile, as it has now been confirmed that underage competitive sport cannot take place at Level 3 or higher in the Irish government’s Living with Covid-19 Plan, and given the uncertainty of the current epidemiological situation and the possibility of Donegal being elevated to Level 3 restrictions before the finals, the final of the Irish Boys Inter-Club Championship is postponed and will be rescheduled in the coming weeks.

On Friday, October 16, there will be an official practice round for AIG Senior Cup and AIG Jimmy Bruen Shield.

The following day (Saturday, October 17), the AIG Senior Cup semi-finals will see the Leinster champions face the Munster champions (8.30 a.m.) and the Connaught champions take on the Ulster champions (9.15 a.m.)

In the AIG Jimmy Bruen Shield semi-finals, it's the Munster champions v the Connaught champions (10 a.m.) and the Ulster champions v the Leinster champions (11 a.m.).

On Sunday, October 18, the AIG Senior Cup final will get under way at 9 a.m., followed by the start of the AIG Jimmy Bruen final at 10 a.m.

The following week, there will be an official practice round for the AIG Junior Cup and AIG Pierce Purcell Shield on Wednesday, October 28.

The action starts the following day (Thursday, October 29) in the AIG Junior Cup semi-finals, with the Leinster champions facing the Ulster champions at 8 a.m. and the Munster champions playing the Connaught champions at 8.45 a.m.

In the AIG Pierce Purcell Shield, it's the Connaught champions v the Munster champions at 9.30 a.m. and the Ulster champions v the Leinster champions at 10.30 a.m.

The finals will be played on Friday, October 30, starting with the AIG Junior Cup final at 8.30 a.m. and the AIG Pierce Purcell Shield final at 9.15 a.m.
