Mayo Roscommon Hospice invites people to #ShineALightforHospice this November

Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation is asking people to #ShineALightforHospice this November to help raise funds for vital palliative care services.

This year because the foundation can’t hold its usual gathering for its tree-lighting ceremony, people are being asked to light a candle in their own home on Sunday November 29, at 6.30 p.m. to remember a loved one, living or deceased and share in the Shine A Light ceremony from afar.

During the virtual ceremony, loved ones who have passed away or indeed those who have been going through a tough time will be remembered.

You can light your own candle or purchase a special Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation candle for the evening.

The #ShineALightforHospice campaign was launched at Knock Shrine by CEO of the foundation Martina Jennings and Parish Priest of Knock Fr Richard Gibbons, who will help officiate at the ceremony on November 29.

The ceremony will be live streamed on November 29 at 6.30 p.m. on the Mayo Roscommon Hospice Facebook page so people to join in from the safety of their own homes.

You can purchase your special Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation candle for the evening, priced at €10, by logging onto www.hospice.ie/shop or by calling 094-9388666.

You can also still sponsor a light on the Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation tree in Knock, online at www.hospice.ie, or by purchasing a Shine A Light card in local pharmacies, Knock Shrine or by contacting 094-9388666.

All those names will be entered into our Book of Remembrance for the special Ecumenical Service on the third Sunday in January.
