Gardaí from Ballina Community Engagement are currently conducting a search in the Ballycastle, Lacken and Killala area for a male in his 60's reported missing since last Thursday. Landowners, Walkers and people in the area are asked to be vigilant and contact Ballina Garda Station on (096) 20560 with any information.

Land and sea searches continue in north Mayo for missing man

An extensive search has been taking place in the north Mayo area for a missing man.

The man, a resident of Lacken area, was last seen at about lunchtime on Thursday. He is aged in his 60s.

His vehicle was located on Friday afternoon at Downpatrick Head and the Irish Coastguard, along with Mayo Civil Defence, An Gardai Siochana and the Grainne Uaile Sub-Aqua Club, have been involved in the land and sea search operations today.

Gardai have confirmed searches have been taking place from Ballycastle Pier to Killala, along the entire stretch of coastline.

Anybody with any information that can assist in tracing the missing man should contact Ballina Garda Station at 096 - 20560.
