Clare Island GAA Club fundraising for new changing rooms

CLARE Island GAA Club has launched a fundraising campaign to build new state-of-the-art changing rooms.

The project will involve the construction of a small covered viewing terrace above the pitch.

Developing the facilities will safeguard the future of the club, allowing it to host year-round Gaelic football games and training and other sports on the island.

It will also mean it can host tournaments, Cúl Camps, and visiting teams (the plan is to invite all Mayo squads to visit the island for training weekends).

And it will also ensure that all age groups and people with disabilities have a safe and secure place to enjoy sports year-round.

The club estimate that the cost of completing the changing rooms and developing a small covered stand will be in the region of €100,000. They have been approved for sports capital funding of €43,000.

To progress the project, the club is asking for support from friends around the world and a GoFundMe fundraising page has been set up. You can donate here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/cigaa?fbclid=IwAR3FY7j6E3oTWbEHPVnY2iSwwgcbE0TEv_IhiSMYIllsV5m11XXvbpODCus

Donations over €50 will be rewarded with special edition club gear to say 'thank you'.

Clare Island GAA Club has a long, proud tradition of Gaelic football, as set out on the fundraising page.

Male and female teams compete every year in the annual All-Island Football Competition and school teams compete in underage competitions.

The club regularly host Cúl Camps, tournaments, and visiting teams such as the Mayo ladies senior team and Mayo minor squad.

Its players have made a massive contribution to the success of Louisburgh GAA over many decades.

“We are passionate about our native games and we offer a unique GAA experience on a beautiful offshore island.

“This is why we want our facilities to match those in mainland Mayo.”
