€169,000 allocated to three Mayo groups for mobility and cancer care support services

A Mayo TD has received confirmation that three community based Mayo organisations have been allocated €169,000 in total to fund a vehicle for each organisation.

Deputy Michael Ring stated: “The vehicles will be used to provide essential transport services for people with mobility issues.

"The funding is provided under the Mobility and Cancer Care Transport Measure of the CLÁR Programme.

"The CLÁR Programme is helping to improve the quality of life in rural communities”.

“This funding will support voluntary organisations that provide, free of charge transport to and from day care, or other medical therapy and respite services, and/or transport to or from designated cancer treatment hospitals and centres under the National Cancer Care Programme”.

The following are the successful Mayo groups:

Order of Malta, Ballina, ambulance €50,000

Western Care, Ballina, vehicle €54,000

St. Coleman’s Care Centre, Achill, vehicle €65,000
