Online booking system to operate at Mayo's Covid vaccination centre

A Mayo Oireachtas member has welcomed the news that Breaffy House Events Arena will be one of the 37 mass vaccination centres in the country.

Senator Lisa Chambers said: “This is very welcome news, it’s great that the people of Mayo will be serviced with their very own mass vaccination centre.

"The opening times and running of the centre will depend on vaccine supply and the catchment area and those details will be made available in the coming weeks.”

“It is a positive step towards the roll-out of the vaccine across our Island and I want to thank the Minister for Health and the HSE for all their hard work in getting these centres up and running.

“As it stands, vaccines are currently being administered in healthcare settings and GP surgeries.

"However once these centres are open, many people will be offered their vaccination in these centres after self-registering online.

“In the coming months supply will increase substantially and we will see these centres operating to full capacity and administering vaccines to the general population, following the government priority list."
