Newport native signs for Shelbourne FC

FORMER Castlebar Celtic player Rachel Baynes has signed on to play for Shelbourne FC ahead of the 2021 Women's National League

Rachel, a Newport native, played for Castlebar Celtic from an early age before being signed by Galway Women’s FC.

Rachel has played internationally for the Republic of Ireland at underage level, most notably with the Under 19 squad.

The young defender is an exciting footballer to watch and will hope to bring success to the reds for the season ahead.

A versatile player, Rachel can play at either right-back or right-wing and is balancing football with college in NUIG.

She has become the latest Mayo native to sign for a club in the Women's League, with Roisin Molloy, Kelsey Munroe and Abbiegayle Ronayne all recently signing for Athlone Town Ladies AFC.
