Littlewoods National Camogie League details announced

Mayo will be playing Littlewoods Ireland National League Division 4 camogie this year.

Division 4 will been made up of two groups of four, with the first and second teams in each group going on to the semi-finals.

Mayo are in Group 2 along with Louth, Kildare and Roscommon. Group 1, meanwhile, features Antrim, Tyrone, Cavan and Wicklow.

The league is due to start on Saturday, May 15, with Mayo away to neighbours Roscommon. The following week (Saturday, May 22), Mayo will have home advantage against Kildare, while the final group game a week later (Saturday, May 29) will see the team host Louth.

Any back matches or playoffs will be played on June 5, with the semi-finals set for June 12 and the final for June 19. A final replay, if needed, will be played over the weekend of June 26/27.

All fixtures are subject to change pending further government announcements.

Last week, the Mayo Camogie County Board appointed Jimmy Lyons as junior team manager. Following his appointment, Jimmy said: “My aim is to re-establish Mayo on the inter-county camogie scene. My short-term aim is to encourage players to commit to inter-county camogie and to approach it with a willingness to learn. It is a journey into the unknown for all of us but approached with a sense of excitement and exploration, I believe we can make great progress.”

Lyons will be ably assisted by Sinead Muldoon (Westport) and Ger Doherty (Na Brideoga) as his backroom team for the 2021 season.
