Mayo traffic disruption information for the week ahead

Mayo County Council has issued the following traffic disruption information which comes into effect from tomorrow.

BALLINA MUNICIPAL DISTRICT

Road strengthening works are due to take place at Behy Road, Ballina (works ongoing until May 7 approximately).

Temporary traffic management will be in operation with restricted access.

Annual surface dressing programme to commence at various local roads throughout the district (works ongoing during summer months). Temporary traffic management will be in operation.

Accommodation works to take place intermittently on the R314 Ballina-Killala Road - south of Killala.

CASTLEBAR MUNICIPAL DISTRICT

Temporary traffic management on Westport to Turlough Road Project:

Traffic Control systems will be in operation at the following Plant Crossings/Site Access at varying times during the week:

L1704 Belcarra Road.

L1811 Islandeady Road.

Islandeady Cemetery Road.

N5 Derrylea.

N84 Ballinrobe Road.

Horsepark Road.

L1711 Keelogues Road.

N59 Ballinlough Road.

Traffic management in operation on the N59 at Slaugar Road Junction.

Traffic Management on the N59 at Shanvalleybeg.

Hard shoulder closed on N5 westbound carriageway.

Traffic Management on the N5 for controlled crossing.

Road Closure – Windsor Road, Castlebar remains closed. Please use alternative routes.

Road works are ongoing on the N60 at Heathlawn (between Balla and Claremorris) [works will be ongoing for four weeks approximately].

Stop/Go system of traffic management in operation [Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30 pm].

CLAREMORRIS MUNICIPAL DISTRICT

Road works are continuing on Tuesday, May 4, on the N17 at Charlestown.

Pavement works will commence on the section of the N17 from Supermacs to the Town Centre.

Diversions will be in place for traffic travelling south from Sligo via L1331 Lavymore.

Traffic management will be in operation / works ongoing for 4 weeks approximately.

Delays are expected.

To facilitate adjacent construction works on the N26 at Cloongullane [between Swinford and Foxford], a 60km/h speed restriction will be in place for the remainder of 2021

WESTPORT/BELMULLET MUNICIPAL DISTRICT

Reconstruction of Pedestrian Crossings at the Octagon, Westport Town is due to commence on Tuesday, May 4.

DIVERSIONS: All Traffic travelling west of Westport to - N59/Leenane/The Quay/Louisburgh will be via High Street/Carrowbaun.

No access from the N59 Leenane Road to Westport Town Centre via Carrowbaun/High Street.

Road works are due to take place at the following locations:

R311 Newport-Castlebar Road at Newport. Works ongoing Tuesday to Friday [8 a.m. to 6 p.m.].

Stop/go system of traffic management will be in place/ delays are expected, please allow extra time for your journey

R335 Westport-Louisburgh Road at Old Head. Works ongoing Tuesday to Friday [8 a.m. to 6 p.m.].

Stop/go system of traffic management will be in place/ delays are expected, please allow extra time for your journey.

R378 Louisburgh-Roonagh Pier Road at Roonagh. Works ongoing Tuesday to Friday [8a.m. to 6p.m.]

Traffic controls will be in place, delays are expected, please allow extra time for your journey, particularly for those travelling to connecting ferries to Inishturk and Clare Island.
