Passing of founder and proprietor of Corrib Oil, Eugene Dalton

The death has occurred unexpectedly at the Galway Clinic of Eugene Dalton, Kilbeg, Claremorris.

One of Mayo's best known and most successful businessmen, he was founder and proprietor of Corrib Oil Limited.

Many warm tributes have been paid to him on social media since his passing was announced.

One described Eugene as a true gentleman who always made time to stop and chat.

"It was always a pleasure to meet him. Another fine Claremorris man gone too soon. Rest in peace Eugene."

Another stated: "He was always in good humour and had time for a few words with those he met before going off to do his day's work.

"He was a true gentleman. May his gentle soul rest in peace."

Eugene will be sadly missed by his heartbroken wife Eileen, sons Eugene, Eamon, Michael and Shane, daughters Carmel and Orla, grandchildren Roisin, Eoghan, Caoimhe, Molly, Lucy, Neala, Matthew, Doireann and Hanorah, daughters-in-law Brenda. Louise. Marguerite and Gillian, son-in-law Darren, brothers Paddy and Tony, sisters Marian and Ann, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives neighbours and his wide circle of friends and his Corrib Oil family, to whom sympathy is tendered.

Eugene's remains will leave his family home on Tuesday at 12.30 p.m. ( via Ballyhaunis Road) to arrive at St./ Colmans Church for Requiem Mass at 1 o' clock with burial afterwards in Ballinasmalla Cemetery.

The funeral cortage will leave St Colmans Church for burial via Dalton St, James, and Ballindine road on route to Ballinasmalla.

Eugene's Mass will be streamed live on YouTube - Claremorris Church Live or listen on Claremorris Church Radio 106fm.
