High number of patients on trolleys at Mayo University Hospital

Thirty patients are awaiting beds at Mayo University Hospital today - the second highest in the country behind University Hospital Limerick.

It shows an increase of eight in the past 24 hours.

Twenty-one are in the emergency department and nine in wards.

A total of 212 admitted patients are waiting for beds nationally, according to today’s INMO Trolley Watch.

Up to 175 patients are waiting in the emergency department while 37 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.
