County grounds to host Under 17 and Under 20 championships

The 2021 Connacht GAA Under 17 and Under 20 championships will be played in county grounds rather than the Centre of Excellence in Bekan.

That announcement came following meetings last night of the Connacht management committee and the Connacht CCC who decided, due to changes in the numbers of patrons allowed to attend games in venues with a capacity of over 5,000, to revert to the previous rota of games to be played at county grounds for the upcoming championships.

The decision means that Mayo's Under 20 Connacht semi-final against Galway will be played in Tuam Stadium on Tuesday, July 13, while the Under 17s will face Roscommon in Dr. Hyde Park in a provincial quarterfinal on Friday, July 23.

The Under 20 Connacht final will be played on Wednesday, July 22, with the All-Ireland semi-final to take place on July 31/August 1 and the final on August 14/15.

In the Under 17 championship, should Mayo get past Roscommon they will face Galway in the Connacht semi-final on Saturday, July 31, in MacHale Park. The provincial final is pencilled in for Friday, August 6, with the All-Ireland semi-final on August 21/22 and final on August 28/29.
