New website for all Local Government job opportunities launched

JOB-HUNTERS can now search recruitment opportunities in all 31 local authorities in one place – www.localgovernmentjobs.ie.

Launched today (Thursday) by the Local Government Management Agency, localgovernmentjobs.ie is the only place to find all local government recruitment opportunities across the country. The website also provides a hub of information about local authority careers, recruitment and benefits.

With more people thinking about a move beyond the country’s traditional employment centres, now is a great time to consider the rewarding career opportunities available with a local authority.

Irelands 31 local authorities offer a broad variety of roles in diverse areas such as climate action, planning, arts and culture, health and sports promotion, economic and community development and more. Working with a local authority offers the chance to make a real difference for your county and community.

Your Council Day

The launch of the website coincides with Your Council Day today (Thursday), during which local authorities all over the country will give an insight into the important work they do all year round. This year’s Your Council Day has a focus on the role local authority employees will play in our country’s social and economic recovery in the months and years ahead.

The Communications Department at Mayo County Council are leading the Your Council Day campaign for Mayo. Follow them on Twitter @MayoCoCo across the day with feature videos available at Facebook.com/mayococo.

Across social media, #YourCouncilDay / #DoLásaChomhairle will showcase the work of the committed and passionate council workers who make a difference to the lives of the people in their community. Local authorities will also provide a ‘behind the scenes’ look at a typical day in councils and highlight all the services councils and their dedicated employees provide.

“We are delighted to launch the new localgovernmentjobs.ie website – an important resource for jobseekers and local authorities alike,” said Tim Lucey, Chair of the County and City Management Association (CCMA) and Cork County Council Chief Executive.

“Working for a local authority is an excellent career choice and gives people the opportunity to play a role in the positive development of their communities. This website brings together for the first-time information about local government job opportunities, career benefits, recruitment processes and more in one central hub.

“From supporting businesses to get back on their feet by administering enterprise grants and facilitating outdoor dining, to providing safe outdoor spaces and active travel opportunities for people to enjoy, councils across the country have risen to the challenge of leading the local response to this phase of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Our employees have been at the heart of that response and on this year’s Your Council Day we pay tribute to the innovative ways they serve their community. We want more people to know about the excellent career opportunities we offer and highlight how working with a local authority gives you the chance to join a team of passionate, committed people and make a real difference.”
