Former Mayo garda stations are going under the hammer

TWO former garda stations in Mayo will go under the hammer at auction this week - Hollymount and Ballyglass.

They are listed among 40 properties to be sold by O'Donnellan & Joyce Auctioneers at Friday's auction.

The eight-bedroom Hollymount premises is a two-storey, semi-detached Georgian building constructed around 1819.

Ballyglass station lies on a large corner site and is comprised of a semi-detached residence and outbuildings. Built originally as a hotel around 1850, it was converted to an RIC barracks in the early 1900’s. It operated as a garda station from the 1920’s.
