Good news for three Mayo towns as waste water treatment plants are offically opened
A former Mayo Oireachtas member has expressed her delight in joining Minister of State Peter Burke at Killala Business Park today for the official opening of the new waste water treatment plants at Killala, Foxford and Charlestown.
Michelle Mulherin stated: "I had been heavily involved in the prioritisation and delivery of these schemes and their funding as a TD and senator and was an advocate as a councillor too.
"It's so important that we maintain water quality for human health and environmental conservation and not have raw sewage polluting our rivers and bays and to help us retain our clean green image for tourism.
"What's more these schemes will allow further housing, new businesses and encourage investment and allow Killala, Foxford and Charlestown to grow in a sustainable way.
"Great news all round."
