No extra-time in Mayo's All-Ireland final clash against Tyrone

by Aiden Henry

A replay will be scheduled by the GAA in the event of the All-Ireland SFC final between Mayo and Tyrone on September 11 at Croke Park finishing level after 70 minutes.

The fact extra-time will not be played in the event of a draw on Saturday week was confirmed this evening by John Prenty, secretary, Connacht GAA Council.

He stated the playing of extra-time only applied up to the semi-final stage with an option of penalty kicks if the extra 20 minutes did not separate the sides.

Both Mayo and Tyrone won their penultimate round games against Dublin and Kerry, respectively, after extra time.
