Over 2,000 properties in Mayo county town hit by power fault

Up to 2,025 homes and businesses have been hit by an ESB Networks power fault today.

The company has identified the fault in the Turlough Road area which occurred at 9.31 a.m. and it has impacted on an extensive area of the town - including the town centre.

The company has apologised for the loss of supply which is expected to be restored by 1.15 p.m.

A spokesperson stated: "We are currently working to repair the fault and will restore power as quickly as possible."

Power has started to return to some locations ahead of the estimated restoration time.
