Major Mayo project on course to open next summer

The Mary Robinson Centre in Ballina is within budget and on course to open in the summer of 2022.

The head of Ballina Municipal District, Declan Turnbull, gave a brief update on the project to local representatives at their October monthly meeting, held at the Kennedy Glasgow Building at the Quay, Ballina.

He outlined that he had spoken recently with the Mary Robinson Centre project manager, Susan Heffernan, who indicated that building work should be finished by Christmas this year.

The building kit-out is being designed currently and will proceed to tender by the end of the year, it is hoped, and that work will take place next spring.

“All going well, the centre will be open by next summer,” said Mr. Turnbull.

He added that Ms. Heffernan would be happy to attend a Ballina MD meeting sometime in spring, when the building work has been finished, to provide a further update.
