All revved up for Festival in a Van at Mayo hospital

The Mayo County Council Arts Service will provide music through Festival in a Van to residents and staff of the Sacred Heart Hospital, Castlebar, from 2.30 p.m. this afternoon.

Music will be provided to residents and staff of the Sacred Heart Hospital via Festival in a Van and The Side Effects. Residents will watch through windows the mini festival outside.

This initiative of music in public care nursing units received funding from Creative Ireland’s Creativity & Older Age, and is supported by the Mayo County Council Arts Service and the Arts Council.

Four care nursing units in Mayo are having concerts this week: McBride's in Westport, the Sacred Heart Hospital, Áras Deirbhle in Belmullet and St. Augustine's in Ballina.

The Side Effects are John Hoban, Tony Reidy and Dan Delaney, and they play folk, jazz and country.

Festival in a Van, a mobile live outdoor venue, will set up in the Sacred Heart car park, and residents can watch from the windows. The van itself has been transformed as a mini mobile pop-up venue with drop-down staging and full sound and lighting.
