Mayo hospitalised Covid cases rise sharply since weekend

The number of positive Covid cases in Mayo University Hospital today stands at nine.

That's an increase of six since last Saturday.

The latest statistics have been released by the HSE following an analysis at the Castlebar centre at 8 p.m. yesterday.

Three new cases were admitted in the previous 24 hour period.

While the trend may be cause for some worry, it compares favourably with Galway University Hospital which has 44, the second highest in the country behind University Hospital Limerick with 47.

Sligo University Hospital has 18.

Two confirmed cases in Mayo are being treated in ICU.
