Call on Garda Traffic Division to support Mayo Covid Test Centre stewards

A Mayo TD has called on the county's Garda Traffic Division to support the stewards at McHale Road entrance to the Covid Testing Centre in Castlebar.

Deputy Alan Dillon explained: "The volume of traffic in the queue is causing huge traffic congestion around the town backing up onto the Westport and Dublin Road."

It is understood the centre is currently conducting up to 1,000 tests per day.

However, the large numbers turning up for tests is having a knock-on impact on the town's traffic flow.

It has been reported that the centre is being moved to Breaffy in January.
