Outdoor musical celebration in Mayo's county town

AN outdoor musical celebration of the Linenhall's historic building and its place in the heart of Castlebar is taking place next month.

The once-off 'Inside Outside' experience will take place on Linenhall Street on the evening of Friday, February 4.

The Linenhall building has been through many reiterations in its 200 years and to celebrate recent restoration works on its facade, the arts centre want to bring you on a musical journey through the ages with some of Ireland’s finest artists.

Curated by Mayo traditional artist Emer Mayock, all are invited to join Macdara Yeates (storyteller), Louise Mulcahy (uilleann pipes/flute), Paul Dooley (early Irish harp), Patrick Dexter (cello), Nick Roth (saxophone) in collaboration with Clare Island hand weaver Beth Ann Moran and Michelle O'Rourke (mezzo soprano) for a concert of newly commissioned work commemorating the Linenhall’s long and varied history as a significant landmark in Castlebar.

Print programmes will be available on the night featuring an especially commissioned introduction by Vincent Woods. This beautiful artwork is by artist Maeve Clancy.

The event will mark the centre's sincere thanks to Siobhan Sexton (Mayo County Council) and Castlebar Municipal District for their support throughout the recent works on the building and this event.
