Passing of Carmel Henaghan, Castlebar, is deeply regretted

The death has occurred peacefully of Carmel Henaghan (née Larkin), Ballymacragh, Westport Road, Castlebar, and formerly of Meelick, Co. Galway.

She was predeceased by her husband John and son Brendan, both of whom served terms as elected members and chairmen of the former Castlebar Town Council.

Carmel was also predeceased by her brothers Noel and Tommy Larkin.

She is deeply regretted by her three grandsons Tom, John and Colm (Snugboro, Castlebar), her daughter-in-law Patricia Henaghan, brother Gabriel Larkin (Meelick, Co. Galway), sisters Mary Dolan (Ballinasloe, Co Galway) and Nancy Killelea (Capataggle, Co. Galway), sisters-in-law Joyce Prendergast (Castlebar), Teresa Larkin (Meelick, Co. Galway) and Colette Larkin (Meelick, Co. Galway), nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.

Carmel was widely known and respected in the community.

An accomplished golfer, she was a member of Castlebar Golf Club for many years.

Carmel possessed a great love of horses and had her own equestrian stables at Ballymacragh where she spent many happy hours.

Her remains will be reposing at Kilcoyne's Funeral Home, Thomas Street, Castlebar, this evening (Friday) from 5 to 6.30 p.m. followed by a Humanist Service at the Funeral Home.

A private cremation takes place on Saturday.
