Colour pops at Ballinrobe Racecourse Best Dressed Ladies Competition

Paula Devaney from Kilconly was the winner of The Lodge at Ashford Castle Best Dressed Ladies Day at Ballinrobe Racecourse on June 20 last.

She collected the top prize of a VIP experience at The Lodge at Ashford Castle plus €1,000 in cash. The runners-up received dinner for two in Wilde’s Restaurant in The Lodge at Ashford Castle and a bottle of champagne.

Paula wore a suit from from Brass Boutique in Ennis, with a headpiece by Joanne Hynes. Her shoes were from Zara and her handbag was from River Island. She wore jewellery from Rouse's in Ballina.

On being announced the winner, Paula said: “I am thrilled to have been chosen as the winner of Ballinrobe Racecourse Best Dressed Ladies Competition and I am delighted with the amazing prize. I always love coming to Ballinrobe Racecourse and it has been a wonderful evening.”

Judge Pam Richardson-Hoare remarked: “The fashion at Ballinrobe Ladies Day this year was outstanding. The injection of colours and the individual twist ladies put on their outfits was superb.

“Originality is always key for me, so it was the unique touch that triggered my attention. The top five finalists were compiled of different varied looks but it was Paula who stole the show.

“I would like to congratulate Paula, the finalists and all the ladies who attended Ballinrobe Best Dressed Ladies Day.”

Peter Fergus, hotel manager, The Lodge at Ashford Castle, added: “The Lodge at Ashford Castle were delighted to sponsor Best Dressed Ladies Day. It was such a special evening. We could not be more proud of our association with the Ballinrobe Racecourse.”

John Flannelly, Ballinrobe Racecourse manager, stated: “Best Dressed Ladies Day is one of our most popular race meetings of our season. Pam Richardson-Hoare, who judged the Best Dressed Ladies Competition, wore a River Island caped dress with a Gillian Duggan designed headpiece. Her shoes were from Zara and handbag from Glitzi Bitz.

The five finalists, including the winner, were: Mary Morrin, Ballinrobe; Laura Joyce, Castlebar; Paula Devaney, Kilconly (winner); Joanne Regan, Ballaghaderreen; and Christina Duffy, Kilmovee.
