Quarterfinalists emerging ahead of final round of Mayo GAA Senior Leagues
DESPITE losing their first game of the season, Aghamore remain top of the Division 1A table on nine points with Ballina Stephenites also on nine following their draw with Louisburgh.
Garrymore have moved into third spot following their win over Knockmore, who are in fourth place, while Ballaghaderreen got their first points following a draw with Charlestown. With four teams qualifying for the quarterfinals, Aghamore (9), Ballina (9), Garrymore (8) and Knockmore (7) are on course for the knockout stages but Claremorris, who are on 7 points, are not out of it yet and can come into the reckoning if they can return with something from Ballina in their final game.
In Division 1B Castlebar Mitchels are on 10 points and have taken over at the top of the table after defeating Westport, while Breaffy, who are on 8 points, have moved from top to second following a narrow defeat at the hands of Ballinrobe but both sides are through to the quarterfinals with a game in hand.
Ballintubber are still not out of trouble despite beating Mayo Gaels to pick up their second win of the league and may need to take at least a point from their final game this weekend against Castlebar to avoid a relegation play-off. Ballinrobe are on 6 points and a win over Mayo Gaels in their final game will bring them into contention for a quarterfinal place.
Kiltimagh, whose game against Kiltane last weekend did not go ahead, may need a result in Westport should Ballintubber pick up a point against Mitchels to escape a relegation playoff.
