Changes at the top at Mayo Courts Service

It’s all change these times as regards the most senior personnel involved in the administration of the Courts Service in Mayo.

Peter Mooney has moved on promotion from the Courts Office in Castlebar to the Department of Housing in Ballina.

Fiona Kelly has succeeded Marie Quinn as deputy manager of the Courts Office, Ms. Quinn having retired from the role.

Earlier this year, Fintan Murphy retired from the job of County Registrar for Mayo.

The post of county registrar is a statutory officer, appointed by government, with a number of different roles, including under-sheriff and returning officer functions.

The Connaught Telegraph understands that the post of County Registrar has not yet been advertised by the Public Appointments Service.

The position is expected to attract a large number of highly qualified applicants.

A further vacancy – that of State Solicitor for Mayo – has yet to be filled.

Solicitors who wished to be considered for appointment to the post had until last Tuesday to apply.

The vacancy arises following the appointment during the summer of Vincent Deane as a Judge of the District Court.
