Man arrested in Cork after stealing bus at Mayo school

A 36-year-old man has been arrested in Cork on charges of stealing a master mini-bus parked at a school in Mayo.

The suspect, who resides in east Mayo, took the vehicle from the grounds of St. Brid's National School, Pavilion Road, Castlebar, at 9 p.m. yesterday.

He drove to Cork where the bus, which had a tracking devise installed, was recovered by gardaí working in partnership with their colleagues at Castlebar Garda Station.

The man was charged with stealing the bus and appeared before a district court sitting in Cork earlier today.

He will appear in court again on October 20.
