Call for action to clean up historic Mayo street

Cavendish Lane in Castlebar needs a lot of attention, according to former town councillor Harry Barrett.

Launching his new Facebook page, he stated the historic laneway is "littered, rundown looking and its footpaths are covered in gum.

"This is a main street in the town.

"Mayo County Council have to employ more outdoor staff to keep the streets clean.

"Under the law, they have to do this.

"Where is the person with the barrow and shovel you'd see a few years ago?

"Bread and butter issues being neglected are being neglected," he added.
