Extension approved for Mayo secondary school

Approval for the construction of an extension to St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Foxford, has been granted, Minister Dara Calleary has confirmed.

He outlined: "Minister Norma Foley has sanctioned approval to proceed to construction for St. Joseph’s.

"The works will include the provision of a new science lab. and preparation area accommodation with a view to the facility being in place for September.

"I thank the Minister for her assistance with this project and I congratulate school principal Mr. Dáire McManamon and his board of Management for their diligence in the application process.”

Mayo TD Alan Dillon has also welcomed the announcement.

He said: “I am delighted that the extension, which will consist of a new science lab and preparation area, has been given the go ahead.

"I look forward to the works starting in the coming weeks with the aim of being finished in September.”
