Mánus Ó Conghaile, Evelyn Ní Ghriallais and Seán Bán Breathnach will feature as TG4 increase their coverage of Irish racing this year.

Mayo racecourse meeting to be broadcast on TG4

TG4 have announced that it will air coverage from an additional five fixtures in the coming weeks.

Rásaí BEO, TG4’s highly-acclaimed racing programme, will broadcast live coverage from the racemeetings at Fairyhouse on Easter Saturday, April 8, the Curragh on Bank Holiday Monday, May 1 and from Ballinrobe on Monday, May 29.

The coverage from Fairyhouse and the Curragh will also take in a number of races from the meetings at Cork and Down Royal on the same afternoon.

The programmes will be hosted by Seán Bán Breathnach and Mánus Ó Conghaile who will be joined by racing pundits Sarah Lynam, Evelyn Ní Ghriallais and Daragh Ó Conchúir.

Suzanne Eade, CEO of Horse Racing Ireland, said: “It is great news that TG4 has added five racemeetings to their schedule and I am particularly excited that Ballinrobe’s biggest day of the year will again feature on terrestrial television, alongside extended coverage from Fairyhouse, the Curragh, Down Royal and Cork.

“With their raceday coverage and the wonderful Laochra na Rásaíochta series, TG4 is certainly a fine ally of Irish horse racing. Their increased promotion of the sport is a true reflection of the overall popularity of horse racing across the country.

“In the past two years, live racing on terrestrial television has been broadcast from 17 of our 26 racecourses and this year the coverage will run to a minimum of 45 racedays with live action coming from well in excess of 50 different racemeetings. We are continuing to work on adding to these numbers.”

TG4’s Head of Sport, Rónán Ó Coisdealbha, said: “TG4 are very grateful to Horse Racing Ireland for continuing to provide us the opportunity to broadcast top quality race meetings from around the country and we look forward to our extended Rásaí Beo coverage this year.”
