Moorehall - sign was stolen from area.

Sign stolen in Mayo tracked to boot of BMW

A SIGN taken at Moorehall was found in the boot of a BMW car thanks to a tracker attached to it.

Disappearing signs has been a problem for a while in the area and local Councillor Al McDonnell has described a 'forest of bare poles' south of Castlebar where they have been removed.

However, the most recent disappearance had been resolved, he was pleased to tell a local area meeting, as there was a tracker on the sign, which led to its recovery.

A number of councillors raised issues with various signage in the municipal district at the monthly Castlebar Municipal District meeting.

The Raheenbar sign on the Glenisland Road needs to be replaced, said Councillor Blackie Gavin. Someone sprayed black paint on it and it's hanging down and it 'looks desperate', he stated.

The sign at Hollow Grove in the town was hanging down, too, while the one for Drumconlon Close was pointed over to the football grounds.
