Water sport company founded by Mayo man to sponsor international sailing team

Covy Water Sport, based in Lucan, Dublin, have been announced as the official kit supplier to the Northern Ireland Sailing Team from 2026.

This marks an exciting new chapter for Covy as they get ready to launch a new range of water sport products in 2026.

These products include a range of high-performance gear designed in collaboration with members of Team Ireland and the Irish Olympic Team. The partnership has a wide range of benefits for athletes and clubs, providing both in water and on shore sailing gear to Northern Ireland athletes and clubs.

Covy director, and Westport native Cillian Griffith, said: “Covy’s vision is to develop a home-grown range of high-performance sailing and water sport gear that athletes are proud to wear on the international stage, to support athletes on their journey and help grow our sport.

"Our vision very much aligns with that of the NI sailing team and we are looking forward to working together to maximise athlete potential.”

Covy is Ireland’s first water sport brand to develop a range of high-performance wetsuits in both adults and junior sizes.

"With a range of new products launching in 2026 including sailing hikers, long johns, booties, rash vests, and shore wear like jackets and hoodies, Covy are looking at a strong year ahead.

Cillian added: “We are incredibly excited about the potential this partnership holds for both Covy and the NI Sailing Team.

"We believe that together, we can help grow our sport and support Irish athletes on both the national and international stage.”
