Mayo's newest coffee shop opens its doors

MAYO'S newest coffee shop has opened its doors.

The Novel Bean is based in Swinford, with well-known local man Cathal Kelly opening the doors to his new business this morning.

You'll find The Novel Bean on the corner of Market Street, across from the old courthouse, where the building boasts a bright new welcoming look.

Cathal Kelly is well known across Mayo and further afield from his Walk2Rome charity endeavours last year.

Since then he has put his energy into the new business, which is a welcome new addition to Swinford's retail scene.

He announced the beginning of his new adventure on social media this morning:

'The Novel Bean Swinford is now open.

'I am so proud of what we have built here on the corner of Market Street, Swinford, in my Dad's old office.

'There is not enough words to describe my gratitude to my sister-in-law Lorraine for the unbelievable assistance she has given me in planning and developing this beautiful new retail experience.

'A huge thank you also to my brother Douglas for allowing us to share this great space with him and to my remaining family, Mum and Dad, Katie, Michael, Sinead, Odhran, Daimhin and Alice for their continued support encouragement and belief.

'For all the contractors who brought our ideas and plans to life, a huge thank you. To my friends and community thank you for always backing and supporting me and giving me the belief to follow my dreams.

'To my new team here at The Novel Bean, welcome aboard and I hope it is a great and fun experience for you.

'I have loads more to say but for now, just want to say that really proud and excited to welcome you to The Novel Bean.

I hope you have a great experience with us every time you visit.

'Please be patient and understanding with us all here at The Novel Bean as we find our steps and learn and develop our new retail experience that we hope will be part of our Swinford and Mayo community for many years to come.'
