Mayo songwriter and producer Joe Monaghan, who works under the name Train Room, has a new album coming soon.

Early April release date for new album by Mayo's Train Room

The new album by Mayo-based songwriter and producer Train Room is slated for an April 3 release.

Totally independent and self-produced, the record – entitled Station Road – was recorded in the artist's home county.

Over 10 tracks written between 2024 and 2026, the record reflects on childhood, place and memory – all centred around the street where Joe Monaghan (aka Train Room) grew up in the west of Ireland.

Rather than nostalgia as sentimentality, the album treats memory as texture, layered into arrangement, atmosphere and tone.

“I wanted to bring the listener back to where I grew up – back to childhood – through music,” Joe explained.

Across 37 minutes, the album moves between melodic indie, folk-inflected songwriting and expansive alternative production. Each track unfolds as its own emotional chapter while maintaining a cohesive sonic identity.

Station Road is Train Room's second album. It represents the artist's most fully realised work to date, featuring live-recorded string arrangements and drums by Irish musician and comedian Ger Staunton, broadening the sonic palette while retaining an intimate core.

“It feels like the record I always wanted to make,” concluded Joe.
