The late Caroline Gordon.

Great sadness at passing of special Mayo woman Caroline Gordon

THERE is sadness across Mayo following the announcement of the death of Caroline Gordon, Breaffy, Castlebar, and Swinford, and formerly of Ballycastle.

An accountant by profession, Caroline ran a very successful practice in Swinford for a number of years.

While she excelled as a businesswoman, Caroline was also very much immersed in community life and volunteering. In that capacity she left an indelible mark on many organisations, including Network Mayo, Castlebar Chamber of Commerce, and Western Care, among others, being deeply committed to every project she took on.

She is being warmly remembered in online tributes.

“She was a very special, kind and loyal person,” said one.

Another recalled a 'beautiful, fun and very kind lady whose focus was family, fun and then work'.

She died peacefully at St. Vincent's Private Hospital, Dublin, and is predeceased by her parents Joe and Peggy and brothers John and Thomas.

Caroline is deeply regretted by her loving husband Sean, her adored daughter Niamh, devoted sisters and brother Margaret Given (James), Strandhill, Stephanie Heneghan (Michael), Breaffy, and Declan Ryder (Laura), Clogher, nieces and nephews Ellen, Niall, Sarah, Catherine, Jane, James and David, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, aunt and uncle, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom sympathy is extended on their great loss.

Caroline will repose at the Coady Funeral Home, Castlebar, on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m.

Funeral will arrive to St. Aloysius Church, Breaffy, on Monday at 11.30 a.m. for requiem Mass at 12 noon. Funeral afterwards to Breaffy Cemetery.
