Minister Dillon welcomes progress on extension for Mayo NS
Minister of State Alan Dillon has welcomed approval for an additional classroom at Ballintubber National School.
“I was delighted to receive confirmation from the Department of Education that the Stage 2B report for this stand alone classroom has been fully reviewed and approved under the Additional Accommodation Scheme,” Minister Dillon said. “This is an important milestone for the school community and allows the project to advance to the tender and construction stages.”
The extension, he explained, will include the addition of a new stand-alone room with facilities in a modular building. Planning permission was granted for the classroom last year.
The building will be located to the north of the existing school and takes into account access to the main school building, minimising disruption during construction.
Minister Dillon added: “I will continue to work closely with the Department and the school, to ensure this project remains firmly on the agenda. I want to congratulate principal Karen Serantes, Board of Management, staff and the school community, and wish them the best of luck as they progress to the construction stage. This is a vital investment for students, families, and the wider community, and I am committed to supporting its delivery.”
