Beekeeper buzzing ahead of Winning Streak appearance

A MAYO man who recently started keeping bees is buzzing with excitement ahead of his appearance on behalf of his wife on the National Lottery Winning Streak TV game show on RTÉ One this Saturday night.

Pat Gallagher from Foxford, and his wife Jacinta, were watching the Mayo football team getting narrowly defeated by Galway last Saturday evening when she got a call from her brother to say her name had been drawn to appear on Winning Streak.

She initially thought it was a wind up, but when her phone kept ringing with people congratulating her she knew this was no joke!

Jacinta, a long-time fan of the show, always said if she ever got selected to be a guest she would get someone else to play for her, so Pat stepped forward and will be hoping to do her proud this weekend.

Pat will be having a double celebration as on Sunday he celebrates his birthday.

Pat and Jacinta have been married for 33 years and have four children - Brendan, Kevin and twins, Tommy and Deirdre. All the children, except Tommy, are looking forward to cheering Pat on in the Winning Streak audience this weekend. Tommy is currently living and working in Melbourne, Australia.

Pat has worked in the water and waste management treatment plan team at Mayo County Council for almost 35 years. He recently took up beekeeping as a hobby.
